From a betting perspective, I believe there's too many race meetings. yes, yes demand/supply but i feel Its more of a bookmakers decision as oppose to race courses. Think about it Monday to Saturday, we have 5/7 race meetings between Ireland/Uk alone thats 6 races X 5 meetings per day = 30 races on average to try and get through and research the value/edge in one evening.

You might even have your email/text alerts set up but then, find your checking the weather reports,
Non -runners ,are Odds drifting in/out. Even if you have a good database to filter out these it now becomes a full time job on top of the full time job you already have of working , minding kids, paying bills etc So at most you might find a hour or two to do your research but again the bookmakers have us right where they want us overloading us with volumes of races Horse/dogs/Virtual etc just making It hard and harder to get that edge over them ( bookmakers )
You hardly think Leicester,Lingfield,Worcester are packed to the rafters with on course race goers ?
The prize money for owners/trainers are at a all time low. Most races are sponsored by Bookmakers. In effect THE REASON why We have more races to ponder but whose policing It ? on the other hand, you're told It has brought plenty of jobs for stable staff , on course staff , trainers, jockeys and all involved it has a 360 affect. I just don't think thats coming from the bookmakers profits ? do you .
Now where was I Ah yes 15:40 Newcastle Rayadour (IRE) ew Mmmmm
