Ten to Follow update
It’s been a great jumps season as usual and we’re just a week away from the Cheltenham festival, which seems an ideal place to review recent performances of our Ten To Follow.
Aux Ptits Soins, who had definitely proven disappointing over fences, returned with a staying on second in Haydock’s Rendlesham Hurdle but realistically seems to be stuck in a hole. Not a natural chaser, too high in the handicap and not a Graded hurdler. I can’t say where I expect him to run next but his trainer will need all the prize money he can muster in order to retain his title and you can be sure he’ll be doing his bit for the team.
Ball D’Arc won his second race of the season, a Grade 3 at Navan beating the only finisher, a horse who could be interesting at the festival, Tully East, in simple fashion. He’s now matured and jumps very well so presumably will continue to run well wherever he goes this spring.
Different Gravey looked a horse with a problem when running atrociously on his return to hurdles at Fontwell and clearly is not a horse you could back until anything changes. He’d looked very smart on his debut at Ascot but things are amiss and I’d imagine he won’t see a racecourse for a while.
Supasundae ran a little below form in the Boyne Hurdle at Navan, traditionally the last Stayers’ Hurdle trial run in Ireland before Cheltenham but he could benefit from a return to handicapping and better ground and could run well in something like the Coral Cup, where he gets 10lbs from Modus. On their best form I know who I’d fancy.
Of the remainder of our Ten To Follow, it seems that Charbel will take on Altior in the Arkle and I’d say is a good each way play, Shantou Village has several options but is likely to thrive on decent jumping ground, Wait For Me would be interesting if he takes up his Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Hurdle as he needs to go up in trip and West Approach will hold a strong each way chance in the Albert Bartlett.
It’s the best four days’ racing anywhere so enjoy it and be lucky.
All the Best
