Taquin Du Seuil : Pulled Up
Taquin Du Seuil jumped fences 1 and 2 fine with Cue card taking his normal front running status Barry seem happy to take Taquin Du Seuil to the outside of the group he jumped fence 3 fine but by 4 his jumping seem to lose his rhythm whether this was due to a slow down to the pace of race ? Its hard to tell but by fence 5 barry had gathered Taquin in closer to the group and jumped fence 5 fine. When heading to fence 6 barry asked Taquin to stride quicker over the fence and to quicken up but Taquin snatched at it and lost rhythm again. Fences 7/8 barry got a better jump from Taquin but by 9 barry wanted to quicken up again over the fences but Taquin snatches and loses rhythm. It was a long run to the fence 10 and barry had got Taquin into contention but similar again to fence 9 Taquin snatches at it and again at fences 11/12/13/14 after fence 14 Barrys pulls up Tarquin.
Question now is we're tactics wrong ? The McCoy factor ? is he a gold cup horse ? imo no not with his jumping at present.
Taquin Du Seuil has plenty of speed and ability and on the flat it was evident in the race but when a jockey is asking his horse to quicken up over a fence and be brave and your horse snatches and loses rhythm very easily its a hard ask to win at the top level but time will tell if Jonjo O'Neill keeps the faith come Gold Cup Day at Cheltenham.
